THE PRESIDENT WAS PRESENTED WITH LETTERS OF CREDENCE BY THE APOSTLIC NUNCIO AND THE AMBASSADOR OF THE GRAND DUCHY OF LUXEMBOURG

 


 

H.E. The President of Malta, Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with Letters of Credence by H.E. Mgr. Tommaso Caputo, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See and H.E. Mr. Jean-Louis Wolzfeld, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Malta.

 

Both ceremonies took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at The Palace, Valletta.

 

In the afternoon, the President of Malta and Mrs Fenech Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

Profile: H.E. Mgr. Tommaso Caputo, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See

 

The Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See was born in October, 1950 in Afragola, Naples, Italy.

 

He was ordained to priesthood in 1974.   He then graduated in Canon Law 1980. During the same year he joined the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See and subsequently served in the Papal Missions in Rwanda, the Philippines, and Venezuela and in the Department of General Affairs in the Secretariat of State.

 

The Apostolic Nuncio was appointed as Head of Protocol in the Secretariat of State in 1993.  This year he received an Episcopal Consecration from H.H. Pope Benedict XVI. He has also been appointed as Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Libya.

Profile: and H.E. Mr. Jean-Louis Wolzfeld, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

 

The Ambassador was born in July 1951 in Luxembourg. He graduated at the Institute of Translation and Interpretation at the Université de la Sarre. He ten obtained a Masters Degree in International Public Law and also a Masters Degree in European Law both from the Université de Paris I.

 

He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1977. He served as attaché, and then Secretary of the Corps posted to the Management of International Economic Relation up to 1980, when he was then appointed as Delegate at the 34th UN General Assembly. Between 1981 and 1986 he served as Deputy Permanent Representative to the International Organisations in Geneva. In 1986 he became Vice President of the Contracting Parties of GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade).

 

The Ambassador held various high-ranking positions: Between 1987 and 1993 he was appointed as Ambassador to Japan and then to the Republic of Korea; between 1993 – 1998 he was posted as Ambassador at the United Nations in New York; between 1998 – 2002 he served as Director for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry and as from 2002 to date he served as Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland and also Iceland (resident in UK).

 

The Ambassador speaks French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Luxembourgish.
