PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS BY THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPBULIC OF POLAND
The President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr. Jerzy Chmielewski Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, during a ceremony held at the Ambassadors’ Room, The Palace, Valletta. In the afternoon, the President of Malta and Mrs Fenech Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassador to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.
Ambassador Chmielewski was born in Poznan, in April, 1948.
He graduated from the University of Warsaw, Department of Polish and Slavic Philology.
Between 1970 – 1991 he worked at the University of Warsaw, Institute of Slavic Philology as assistant, superior assistant, lecturer and also superior lecturer. In 1985 he started working as publisher and editor of an independent periodical entitled “Europe”. Up to 1990 he also worked as literature translator and conference interpreter.
His diplomatic career started in 1991 when he was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Belgrade. Between 1993 – 1995 he served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Acting Deputy Director at the Department of Western European Affairs. In 1995 he was then promoted to Deputy Director of the same Department. He served as Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Zagreb between 1997 – 2003. Since 2003 he has been working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director and subsequently Director with the rank of Ambassador within the Department of Europe.
Ambassador Chmielewski speaks Serbian, Croatian, Russian, English, Slovene, Macedonian, Slovak and Czech. He is married with one child.
