PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS BY THE AMBASSADOR OF  THE REPUBLIC OF ROMANIA


The President of Malta, H. E. Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr. Razvan-Victor Rusu, Ambassador of the Republic of Romania, during a ceremony held at the Ambassadors’ Room, The Palace, Valletta.

 

In the afternoon, the President of Malta and Mrs Fenech Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassador to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

Profile: H.E. MR RAZVAN-VICTOR RUSU

Ambassador Rusu was born in Comanesti-Bacau, June 1970.

 

In 1994 he obtained a degree in Hydrotechnics constructions from the Constructions Institute Bucharest, Hyrdotechnics University.  Between 1995 and 1997 he continued his studies at the National School for Political Studies and Administration were he obtained a Master in International Relations and European Integration. He then followed post academic studies in International Law and European Integration. He took part in special courses such as that on Diplomacy of XXI Century at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel and a specialisation course in English language and French language at the UN Secretariat, New York, USA.

 

His diplomatic career started at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest in 1997 as Referent, diplomatic attaché, Middle East and North Africa Department and UN Department within the Ministry. Between 1999 and 2003 he was posted at the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations in New York, USA where he served as Diplomatic attaché, Third Secretary and also Second Secretary. He served as Vice-President of the Commission 1 (Security and Disarmament) of the UN General Assembly, New York, USA between 2002 and 2003.  In May 2003 he served as Second Secretary at the NATO Department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest and in September of the same year he was appointed Deputy Director of the UN Department within the Ministry.

 

Ambassador Rusu served various other high ranking positions such as Personal Counsellor on foreign policy issues of the Prime Minister of Romania (2003 – 2004), National coordinator, Executive National Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe (2004), and First Secretary, National Coordinator of the Central European Initiative. Since 2004 he has been serving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest as General Director at the Directorate General for the Extended Europe.

 

He speaks English and French.

 

The Ambassador is married.
