THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH CREDENTIALS BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF AUSTRALIA AND THE AMBASSADOR OF DENMARK


 

The President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, was presented with the Letters of Credence by H.E.Mr Jurek Juszczyk, High Commissioner of The Commonwealth of Australia and H.E. Mr Gunnar Ortmann, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark.

 

The ceremonies took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at The Palace, Valletta.

H.E. Mr. Juszczyk was born in Melbourne in 1953.

He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Monash University.

Mr Juszczyk is currently Australia’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kiribati, a position he has held since February 2003. Mr. Juszczyk has also served overseas as Counsellor, Australian Embassy, The Hague (1994 – 97), First Secretary, Australian Embassy, Beijing (1988 – 91), First Secretary, Australian Embassy, Stockholm (1982 – 86), First Secretary, Australian High Commission, Lagos (1980 – 82), and Third Secretary, Australian Embassy, Jakarta (1975 – 77).

Mr. Juszczyk has also held a number of position in Canberra including Director, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos Section (1999 – 2002), Director, Cultural Relations Section (1997 – 99) and Director, International Economic Analysis Section (1991 – 93).

The Ambassador is married and has two children.

H.E. Mr. Gunnar Ortmann was born in 1947.

The Ambassador graduated in Political Science in 1975. During the same year he started his diplomatic career as Secretary at the Directorate of Social Services and Secretary at the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen.

A year later he was posted in Jeddah as First Secretary and in 1979 he became Head of Section at the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen. 1984 he was posted in Bonn as Counsellor and after four years he became Head of Department of the European Integration section at the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen. In 1992 he then became Under-Secretary, Ambassador of North Group within the Foreign Ministry.

He served other high ranking positions such as Ambassador to Sweden (1995), State Secretary, Ambassador, Head of the North Group, Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen (1997) and Ambassador to Germany (2001). In 2005 he served as Ambassador to Austria, Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Vienna) and UNIDO and Ambassador to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

He is married to Anne Lise Ortmann and has two children.
