THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH CREDENTIALS BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF BANGLAESH AND THE AMBBASSADOR OF VIETNAM
The President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, was presented with the Letters of Commission by H.E. Mr. Jamilud Din Ahsan, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The ceremony took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at the Palace, Valletta.
This afternoon, the President and Mrs. Fenech Adami will host the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at the Verdala Palace.

H.E. Mr. Jamilud Din Ahsan was born in May 1951 in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College, Dhaka in Bangladesh. He attended various courses in the Military field and was promoted to Brigadier General in 1991 and followed by another promotion, that is, Major General in 1998.
The High Commissioner has a distinguished career in the military force. In the rank of Major as an intelligence staff officer in an Infantry Division he was responsible for co-ordinating all intelligence activities, both combat and operational, to assist commander in his operational decision making process. When he served as Master General of Ordnance (MGO), Army Headquarters, his works included policy formulation, planning, direction and execution with regards to procurement of ordnance for Bangladesh Army. His jurisdiction included supervision and direction of three technical directorates, as well as four logistics oriented organisations.

In 2003 he served for two months as Senior Liaison Officer Bangladesh in Central Command HQ (HQ USCENTCOM), US Army in Tampa, Florida, USA.
The High Commissioner is fluent in Bengali and English. He is married and has two sons.

H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van Nam was born in September 1949 in Hung Yen, Vietnam.
The Ambassador has a Bachelor degree obtained from the University of Teaching in the former USSR in 1974.

His diplomatic career started in 1974 when he worked as desk officer at the European II Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was then appointed as attaché at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Italy in 1977. In 1989 he was appointed as Deputy Director General at the Europe II department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Other high ranking positions within the diplomatic field followed which include: Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the SRV in Italy in 1990, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland in 1998. During this year he was appointed as Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and last April he was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Italy.
He is speaks fluently in French, Italian, English and Russian. The Ambassador is married with two children.
