PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS BY THE AMBASSADORS OF EL SALVADOR AND OF SENEGAL
President Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr Jose Roberto Andino Salazar, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador and H.E. Mr. Papa Cheikh Saadibou Fall, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal.
Both ceremonies took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at The Palace, Valletta.
This afternoon, the President of Malta and Mrs Fenech Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

Profile: H.E. Mr. Jose Roberto Andino-Salazar, Ambassador for the Republic of El Salvador:
The Ambassador was born in July 1948 in San Salvador.
He studied International Relations at the ‘Universidad de El Salvador’ and the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, UNAM.
In 1974 – 1975 he was a lecturer in Economics at the Department of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Law and Political Science within the Universidad de El Salvador. During the same period he worked as a promoter of export at the Insituto Salvadoreno de Comercio Exterior.
He started working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1977 as Internal Director responsible for International Organisations. In 1978 he was then an acting representative in the Executive Committee of the Instituto Salvadoreno de Comercio Exteriores. He held various high ranking positions such as Ambassador of El Salvador to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, New York in (1979 – 1984) and General Director in External Politics in 1985.
He was posted in several embassies as Ambassador to Colombia and Barbados (1985 – 1992), Ambassador at the Permanent Representation of El Salvador to the Organisations of American States, OEA, Washington D.C. (1992 – 1996), Ambassador to Spain and Morocco (1996 – 1999), Ambassador of El Salvador to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, New York (2000 – 2002) and Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Brazil (2002 – 2004).
Since 2005 he has been working in Rome serving as Ambassador for El Salvador to Italy, Greece, Switzerland and Cyprus and also as Permanent Representative of El Salvador to various International Organisations.
The Ambassador speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian and French.
H.E. Mr. Andino Salazar is married with four children.

Profile: H.E. Mr. Papa Cheikh Saadibou Ambassador for the Republic of Senegal:
Born in Dakar, 28th August 1950.
He studied at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar from where he obtained a diploma in general juridical studeis and the University of Bordeaux in France where he obtained a master in Company Law. He has a diploma from the Institute of the region of Aquitaine in the work rights and the social security; a diploma in Public Administration from the University of Boston Massachusetts, USA; diploma about the Administration of collective localities from the Institute Liberal of Guimerbach, Germany.
In his professional career he was internal controller of an agricultural development company and an administration and financial director of an import and export company. He started his political career as a village mayor as from 1996 up to 2001. In 1998 he was a member of parliament. He was also the President of a Parliamentary Group LDP (Liberte – Democratie – Progres).
In 2000 he was appointed Minister of Urban Development and a year later a Minister for Fisheries. In 2004 he was appointed Minister for Internal Affairs and he is now occupying the post of Ambassador of Senegal to Italy and the Permanent Representation to FAO, FIDA and PAM.
He is married with five children.
