THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH LETTERS OF CREDENCE BY THE AMBASSADOR OF FINLAND, THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA AND THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF YEMEN
The President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, was presented with the Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr. Pauli Antero Makela, Ambassador of Finland, H.E. Mr. Midhat Haracic, Ambassador the Republic of Bosnia Herzegovina and H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Hassan, Ambassador of The Republic of Yemen.
The ceremonies took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at The Palace, Valletta.
This afternoon, the President and Mrs. Fenech Adami will host the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

H.E. Mr. Pauli Antero Makela was born in Juupajoki, Finland in 1951.
The Ambassador graduated with a B.Sc., Econ. & Bus Adm., from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in 1979. In 1983 he obtained a Masters in Sc.Econ. & Bus. Adm., from London School of Economics.
He started working within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Helsinki in 1979 as Attaché. In 1983 he was posted to Bruxelles where he worked as Attaché and First Secretary at the Embassy of Finland. He was again posted to another Embassy of Finland as First Secretary in Caracas in 1986. In 1989 he worked again at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki, this time as First Secretary.
In1992 he worked as First Secretary and Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland in Paris. Three years later he was appointed Minister’s Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland in Rome. The Ambassador was Director, Unit for Western Europe, Department for Europe at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki from 1998 to 2002. Between 2002 till this year he was Consul General at the Consulate General of Finland in Hong Kong.
The Ambassador is married to Leena Kurko and they have a son.

H.E. Mr. Midhat Haracic was born in 1945 in Sarajevo.
The Ambassador studied at the Medical Faculty of Sarajevo University in 1969. In 1974 he specialised in Transfusiology and in 1984 in Internal Medicine. In 1981 he did a Doctoral thesis at the Medical Faculty of Sarajevo University. In 1988 he became Assistant Professor at the Internal Medicine and in 1993 and in 2003 he was Professor of Internal Medicine all within the Medical Faculty of Sarajevo University.
In 1988 up to 1990 he became President of European Association for Haemopheresys. In 1992 he became President of Red Cross in Canton Sarajevo. Four years later he served as President of Red Cross in Canton Sarajevo. In 1996 he became President of Management Board of Clinical Centre of Sarajevo University. As from 1998 up to 2000 he was a delegate in Assembly of Canton Sarajevo and President of Commission for Human Rights. In the period 2000 and 2004 he served as Deputy Dean for postgraduate study on Medical Faculty of Sarajevo University and also Director of Federal Institute for Transfusion Medicine. In 2002 he became expert in Council for organ transplantation in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2005 he was appointed Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Italy.
The Ambassador speaks English and German. He is married and has two sons.

H.E. Brigadier Dr. Hussein Ali Hassan was born in 1953 in El Dali, Jhaf Province in Yemen.
The Ambassador has a Doctorate in Political and Social Sciences. He followed Military College in Aden in 1971. A year later he became officer in Charge of culture at the Infantry Brigade. In 1975 he studied at the Academy for Political and Military Studies at Moscow.
His diplomatic career started in 1979 when he became first Deputy Director at the Political Department at the Armed Forces. Two years later he was appointed head of the Armed Forces Division at the Central Committee. The Ambassador served as Assistant-Professor at the Military and Political Academy in Moscow between 1984 and 1986.
In 1986 he became member of the Supreme People’s Council and Director of the Politburo at the Armed Forces. In 1990 he became member of the House of Representatives and Director of the General Department for Political Orientation and Incorporeal at the Armed Forces. Four years later he became Colonel within the Armed Forces. The Ambassador was appointed member of the Consultation Council in 1997 and a member of the State Consultative Council in 2001
The Ambassador speaks Arabic, Russian and English. He is married and has four children; two girls and two boys.
