THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH THE LETTERS OF CREDENCE BY THE AMBASSADORS OF COSTA RICA AND GREECE


 

H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, President of Malta, was presented with the letters of credence by H.E. Mrs Victoria Guardia de Hernández, Ambassador of Costa Rica and H.E. Mr. Anastassis Mitsialis, Ambassador of Greece.

 

The ceremony took place in the Ambassador’s Room at The Palace, Valletta. Later in the day, the President and Mrs. Fenech Adami will host the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at  San Anton.

H.E. Mrs Victoria Guardia de Hernández was born on February 21st, 1939 in San José, Costa Rica. She graduated from the National University of Mexico in Diplomatic studies. Her diplomatic career commenced in 1966 as First Secretary at the Embassy of Costa Rica in Madrid. She held various high positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship. These include the post of General Director for Foreign Policy and the latest one as Deputy Director for International Organizations.

Between the years 1990-1994 she also served as Ambassador at the Permanent Representation for UNESCO in Paris, France.  Since 1998 she served as Ambassador at the Permanent Representatation for FAO, FIDA and PMA in Rome, Italy.

 

The Ambassador is married to Mr. Manuel Hernández Gutiérrez.

H.E. Mr. Anastassis Mitsialis, was born in Athens in 1952. He studied at the University of Athens from where he graduated with a Bachelor in Public Law and Political Science. He started his diplomatic career in 1975 as attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  In 1978 he worked at the Embassy of Greece in Rome and in 1980 was promoted to second secretary.

In 1981 he worked at the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations’ Office in Geneva. He held several other high-ranking positions which include those of Consul General at the General Consulate of Greece in Johannesburg, Consul General at the General Consulate of Greece in London and also Chief of Protocol.

 

He was appointed Ambassador of Greece to the Republic of Argentina in 1995 and Ambassador of Greece to the State of Israel in 1999.

 

The Ambassador is married and has two children.
