PRESENTATION OF LETTERS OF COMMISSION BY
THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA
President Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with Letters of Commission by H.E. Ms Murugesan Manimekalai, High Commissioner of the Republic of India during a ceremony held at the Ambassadors’ Room, The Palace, Valletta.
In the afternoon, the President of Malta and Mrs Fenech Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassador to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

CURRICULUM VITAE OF H.E. MS MURUGESAN MANIMEKALAI:
The High Commissioner was born in 1957. She followed post Graduate studies in History and also obtained a Diploma in Journalism.
The Commissioner was appointed to the Indian Foreign Service in 1981 and after a year was appointed to the post of Attaché in New Delhi. She was then appointed to Third Secretary as from July 1983 to December 1986. Between January 1987 and August 1988 she served as Under Secretary responsible for Indo-China relations within the Foreign Service. She then served the Ministry of External Affairs at the Spokesman’s Office as Deputy Secretary.
The High Commissioner was posted to various countries outside India as: First Secretary/Counsellor within the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York (September 92 – February 96), Counsellor within the Indian High Commission in Cairo (May 1996 - July 1999) and Political Counsellor at the Indian High Commission in The Hague also responsible for all international organisations (August 1999 – December 2002).
Back in New Delhi in 2002 she became Joint Secretary on deputation to National Security Council Secretariat. As from September 2004 to date she serves as joint Secretary for West Asia & North Africa.
