THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH CREDENTIALS BY THE AMBASSADORS OF
ITALY, JAPAN AND LITHUANIA
The President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, was presented with the Letters of Credence by H.E. Mr. Paolo Andrea Trabalza, Ambassador of the Italian Republic; H.E. Mr. Yuji Nakamura, Ambassador of Japan and H.E. Dr. Sarunas Adomavicius, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania.
The ceremonies took place in the Ambassadors’ Room at The Palace, Valletta.
This afternoon, The President and Mrs. Fenech Adami will host the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.

H.E. Mr. Paolo Andrea Trabalza was born in April, 1946.
The Ambassador graduated in Political Science from the University of Rome in 1970. After following a course in diplomacy, in 1974 he started work at the General Directorate of Economical Affairs. After two years, he was appointed Second Secretary (Commercial) at the Embassy of Italy New Delhi.
This was followed by other postings in the Italian Embassy in Washington as second and first secretary. In 1983 he worked at the General Directorate of Political Affairs in 1983.
Other high ranking positions followed such as First Councillor in Bucharest in 1990, First Councillor at the EU Permanent Representation in Brussels in 1997 and Ambassador of Armenia in 2000. Last year he was nominated Minister Plenipotentiary.

H.E. Mr. Yuji Nakamura was born in Tokyo in September of 1944.
The Ambassador studied at the Tokyo University where he studied Law. He passed the Higher Diplomatic Service Examination in 1965 and a year later he started working at the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs.
In 1981 he became Counsellor at the Third Department of the Cabinet Legislation Bureau. In 1983 he became the Director of the Central and Eastern Europe Division, European and Oceanian Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 1985 he was posted in Germany where in 1990 he became Minister of the Embassy of Japan to the Democratic Republic of Germany and a year later became the Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Austria.
He held other high ranking positions such as Consul-General at the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney and Director General, at the International Affairs Department, at the House of Councillors.
In 2002 he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Swiss Confederation and since 2003 also Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Liechtenstein.

H.E. Dr. Sarunas Adomavicius was born in Vilnius in November of 1951.
The Ambassador has graduated from the Law Faculty of Vilnius University in 1974. He is a Doctor of social sciences.
Between 1972 and 1990 he held legal engagements in law and other state institutions. Subsequently, he held the position of Law Assistant to the Chairman of Supreme Council (Parliament).
In 1992 he became Deputy Director of Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 1993 – 1997 he was Consul General in Warsaw and between 1997 – 1999 he became Law Advisor to the Chairman of the Seimas (Parliament).
Between 1999 – 2003 he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation Europe, the United Nations (Vienna), the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear – Test Ban Treaty Organisation. Last year he was appointed ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Italian Republic.
He speaks English, German, Polish, Russian and Italian. The Ambassador is married with two sons.
