HSBC SPONSORS CONCERT BY RENZO SPITERI AND N’FALY KOUYATE
AT THE VERDALA PALACE
President Eddie Fenech Adami was presented with a donation by HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. to sponsor a performance by versatile Maltese percussionist Renzo Spiteri and West African kora and balafon master N’faly Kouyate at The Verdala Palace. The donation for the concert in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund was presented by HSBC’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms Sally Robson at The Palace, Valletta.
This is the fourth consecutive year that HSBC is supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund’s summer fund raising cultural event. The President expressed his gratitude towards HSBC for its support and stated that only through such events the Malta Community Chest Fund can become beneficial to those people in need and to those who seek its assistance.
This year’s performance, held under the distinguished patronage of The President of Malta and Mrs. Fenech Adami, will be taking place this Saturday, 2nd September, 2006. The dynamic duo Renzo Spiteri and N’faly Kouyate will be teaming up once more to present an energy-packed performance. They will be proposing their ongoing collaborative work during an open-air concert that has already been described as “an amazing fusion that ran like a seamless thread during a two-hour performance” (A. Storace, The Times, 4th February 2006). “The premiere performance of this collaboration, entitled ‘Chants’, was held in Malta last January,” commented Mr Spiteri. “The success of this concert has encouraged us to propose the project locally again, and this date will precede our participation in a festival in South Korea that is scheduled towards the end of September.”
