THE PRESIDENT EXPRESSES SYMPATHY WITH THE PEOPLE OF COUNTRIES EFFECTED BY THE NATURAL DISASTER
The President of Malta, His Excellency Dr. Edward Fenech Adami expressed Malta’s sympathy to the Heads of State of Asian and East African countries suffering from the disaster of the earthquake and the tsunamis, which have claimed the life of thousands of victims.
In the messages of condolences the President said that he is confident that the spirit of perseverance of every Head of State and the strong character of the nations effected by this tragic moment, together with the solidarity of the international community, will assist in overcoming the suffering wrought by this natural phenomenon.
The messages of condolences were sent to H.E. Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Iajuddin Ahmed, President of the Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam President of the Republic of India, H. E. Mr. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, President of Malaysia, H. E. Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Mr. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), King of Thailand, H.E. Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, Federal President of Somalia and H. E. Sr. Gen. Thanshwe, Head of State Union of Myanmar.
