OPR- Sunday, 3rd October - Valletta

The President of Malta, His Excellency Dr. Edward Fenech Adami received the President of Romania, His Excellency Mr. Ion Iliescu at The Palace, Valletta who is in Malta on a State Visit.

As soon as President Fenech Adami welcomed President Iliescu, the two Presidents exchanged gifts at the Pages' Hall and proceeded to the Ambassadors' Hall for the Conferment Ceremony.

In the Ambassador's Hall, doors were closed for talks and this was followed with a press conference during which President Fenech Adami remarked that Malta was following the accession talks between Romania and the European Commission and hoped to see Romania integrated into the European Union.

In the evening, the President and Mrs. Fenech Adami and hosted a State Concert followed by a State Dinner in honour of the His Excellency Ion Iliescu.
