THE PRESIDENT IS PRESENTED WITH THE LETTERS OF CREDENCE BY THE AMBASSADORs OF PORTUGAL AND SERBIA MONTENEGRO
H.E. Dr Edward Fenech-Adami, President of Malta, was presented with the letters of credence by H.E. Ms Maria do Cormo Allegro de Magalhaes, Ambassador of Portugal and H.E. Mr Branko Lukovac, Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro.
The ceremony took place in the Ambassador's Room at the Palace, Valletta and later in the afternoon, the President and Mrs. Fenech-Adami hosted the newly accredited Ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton Palace.
The curriculum vitae of H.E. Ms Maria do Cormo Allegro de Magalhaes and H.E. Mr Branko Lukovac follow:

H.E. Ms Maria do Cormo Allegro de Magalhaes was born on the 11th December 1947 in Porto and graduated from the University of Coimbra in Anglo-American studies. Her diplomatic career commenced in 1976 as attaché at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed by various other rankings. In July 1980 she was appointed to the Permanent Mission of UNESCO and in 1982 within the Portuguese Embassy in Paris.

In 1986 she worked as Head of the Institutional Affairs Division followed by Head of the European Correspondent Department in 1989. In 1990 she was posted to the Embassy in Madrid. In 1995 she worked ads Head of the North America Department within the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Her career within the diplomatic service included other postings until she was promoted to Deputy Secretary General of her country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in September 2002.

H.E. Mr Branko Lukova was born on the 3rd January 1944 in Montenegro and graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Beograd. Between 1964 and 1968 he was vice president of the student organisation of Beograd University and Director of the International Friendship Society of the same institution. in 1968 he was Secretary of the commission for international relations of the Union of Socialist Youth of Yugoslavia and in 1972, Secretary of the Commission for international relations of the Socialist Alliance if the Working Peoples of Yugoslavia.

The President is presented with letters of credence from the Ambassador of Serbia Montenegro
Till May 1979 he held the post of Secretary General and Deputy President of the Yugoslav National Commission for UNESCO until he was in 1979, appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and served under two legislations until 1985 when he was appointed Ambassador to Tanzania and the Seychelles.
Between 1989 and 1992 he served as Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of SFR Yugoslavia until he resigned to political disagreements. In 1999 he was appointed Head of the representative office of Montenegro in the Republic of Slovenia and in January 2000 he was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Montenegro till May 20002. In March 2003 he was appointed Minister for international economic relations of Serbia and Montenegro and member of the Council of Ministers of the State Union of his country.
The Ambassador is married and has two daughters.
