PRESIDENT EDDIE FENECH ADAMI ENDS OFFICIAL VISIT TO LIBYA


 

During the second day of the Official Visit to Libya, President Eddie Fenech Adami, had a second meeting with the Col. Muammar Al Gaddafi, Leader of the First September Revolution of the Libyan Jamahariya at his residence in Tripoli.

 

Earlier in the morning, President Eddie Fenech Adami laid wreaths at the El-Hani Battle Martyrs Memorial and the Grave of Freedom Fighter Mohamed Abdel Salam Ehmida Buy Minyar El Gaddafi.  

 

The President later visited Palm City, a construction of an exclusive residential complex along a one-kilometre coastline by Corinthia Group of Companies.  The complex is just outside the city of Tripoli, Libya and offers 408 residential units which include extensive leisure and recreational facilities. The President later also visited the Jamahiri Museum in Tripoli.

 

Before a ceremonial departure from Libya, President Eddie Fenech Adami, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg and Minister John Dalli, attended a reception hosted by the Ambassador of Malta to Libya, Dr. Joseph Cassar.

 

At the reception The President met Maltese citizens and their families including  those with dual Maltese-Libyan citizenship, members of religious orders permanently residing in Libya, Maltese engaged in the commercial, automotive, health, IT, petrochemical, banking and tourism sectors, as well as members of Libyan Friends of Malta Organisation.

 

In his address, The President encouraged the Maltese community in Libya to be ambassadors of their homeland and to inter-relate with the Libyan community.

 

Minister John Dalli had a meeting with the Libyan Minister for Health, Profs. Muhamed Rashed and signed a Memorandum Of Understanding on Co-operation in the fields of Medical Services and Public Health. In the early afternoon Minister Dalli had another meeting with the Minister for Manpower, Training & Employment, Ing. Muhammed Mattoug and discussed co-operation on training and education.

 

The President returned to Malta today, early afternoon
