THE PRESIDENT OF MALTA MEETS THE PRESIDENT OF ALGERIA


This morning, the President of The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria H E Abdelaziz Bouteflika welcomed President Eddie Fenech Adami at a ceremony at Algiers International Airport Hourari Boumediene at the start of a two-day Official Visit. On arrival of at the State Residence, The President had a short tete-a-tete meeting with President Bouteflika. President Fenech Adami is accompanied by the Hon. Michael Frendo, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

 

Later The President had calls at the State Residence Etat de Zeralda by H.E. Mr. Abdelkader Bensalah, President of the National Council, followed by a call by H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz Ziari, President of the National Assembly.

 

Late afternoon, The President will be opening the Maltese-Algerian Business Meeting at the El Mithak State Residence. One-to-one business meetings between the Maltese and Algerians, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta, were held during the day.

 

The Business Delegation is composed of the Malta Enterprise, Air Malta, Bank of Valletta, International Safety Training Centre Ltd, Lufthansa Technik Malta, MBL Shipping Agency Ltd, Bristow Potteries, University of Malta,  EC English School, FimBank, Power Plan Ltd, Vassallo Builders, Time International Sport Ltd, Hudson Holdings Ltd., MGA Design Consulting Ltd, Grant Thornton, Blue Marble Travel Services Ltd, Algeria Cruise Services, Elektra Co Ltd,  Azzopardi Fisheries, Eros Trading, and Hydroelectric Ltd.

 

In the evening, The President will be hosted to dinner by Mr. Abdelkader Bensalah, President of the National Council.

 

Minister Michael Frendo had talks with the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Mourad Medelci and the Hon. M. Hamed Temmer, Minister for Industry and Investments Promotion.  During the meeting various areas of potential economic co-operation were discussed. Amongst these, tourism, transport, training and assistance in the development of e-government facilities were brought up.
