PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

Gurly T. Gibson Schwarz presented her Letters of Credence, as Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia, to President of Malta George Vella. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

President Vella welcomed the Ambassador to Malta and explained that following the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2008, Malta is eager to broaden its contacts with Liberia on several fronts. The President also referred to relations between Liberia and the European Union, stating that Malta welcomes their positive and constructive dialogue and referred in more detail to the ongoing fruitful contacts with ECOWAS.

Ambassador Schwarz conveyed her country’s appreciation to the assistance extended by Maltese authorities in combatting COVID, especially during the year 2020. She explained that relations have reached a point where Liberia would very much welcome increased investment from Malta.
