The Acting President visits the Traditional Agriculture and Trades Fair in Gozo

PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

Acting President Professor Frank Bezzina visited the Agriculture and Trades Fair at the Villa Rundle gardens in Gozo. In a few words on the occasion, the Acting President remarked that since its inception in 1855, this fair was and still is a celebration of Maltese product and talent.

He called for Maltese agricultural and artisanal products to be given greater prominence and space to compete on a level playing field with foreign products. “We as consumers, can also do our important part by looking for products produced and made in our country,” said the Acting President.

The Agriculture and Trades Fair was organised by the Gozo Agricultural, Industrial and Cultural Society together with the Ministry for Gozo. Acting President Bezzina greeted and thanked the Victoria Boy Scouts and the Xagħra Scouts for the guard of honour, and the Gozitan folk groups for their participation. He also thanked the children and youths taking part in sing-songs and a large number of workers and volunteers involved in the success of this traditional event.

Acting President Bezzina congratulated this year’s winners.
