The President of Malta and Mrs Vella ended their visit to London where they met with the Maltese patients currently receiving treatment in London.
Presently, 25 Maltese patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals in London.
The President and Mrs Vella visited Puttinu’s apartments in Sutton as well as the residences of the Franciscan and Augustinian Sisters.
Both patients and their families expressed their appreciation for the visit of the President of Malta and Mrs Vella and for the help and support provided by the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. This help includes financial assistance covering travel and accommodation expenses as well as the costs of the basic needs of family members for the duration of the patients’ stay in London.
For his part, President George Vella described this visit as filled with many emotions and said that on behalf of the people of Malta, he appreciates the work done by the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation together with the workers and sisters in these residences in London.
Additionally, the President also met with various Maltese consultants working in London who, through their commitment, provide Maltese patients with the best possible care and hope for healing.
President Vella added that the ultimate aim of such visits is to make patients aware that they are neither forgotten or alone.
