The Ambassador of Montenegro, Milena Šofranac Ljubojević, presents her Letters of Credence to the President of Malta

The Ambassador of Montenegro, Milena Šofranac Ljubojević, presented her Letters of Credence to President George Vella at San Anton Palace, Attard.

President Vella welcomed Ambassador Šofranac Ljubojević and wished her well on her tour of duty. He expressed Malta’s interest in seeing that the excellent relations between the two countries continue to be enhanced on all fronts, including the commercial and tourism ones. During their exchanges, President Vella reiterated the longstanding support extended by Malta to Montenegro’s EU perspective. The President encouraged the authorities in Montenegro to continue building on reforms intended to accelerate the country’s European prospects. The findings of the latest European Commission Enlargement Report, issued in October, shed positive light on the comprehensive efforts being made by Montenegro on its path to EU accession.

Both the President and the Ambassador welcomed the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit that will be hosted by Albania in December.

On her part, Ambassador Šofranac Ljubojević gave a detailed explanation on how Montenegro is fully committed to fulfil its EU accession goals. She conveyed her country’s appreciation to Malta’s continued support in this respect. She further stated that the country is fully aligned to EU positions and statements on very important issues such as the Russian war in Ukraine. Furthermore, the Ambassador expanded upon the direct impact that the consequences of this war are having on Montenegro’s investment and tourism sectors.
