On World Cancer Day, President George Vella took part in a digital conference organised by the National Cancer Platform.
The President recognised the advances made in cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. He spoke about the issue that cancer medicines are being sold at exorbitant prices, so much so that without the help of governments or voluntary organisations, such medicines could not be procured.
Regarding the National Cancer Platform, the President said that the fact that “our country has so many voluntary organisations dedicated to offer help to those affected by this deadly disease, is a heart-warming sign of how caring the Maltese people are”.
The President thanked all those who volunteer to work in the respective organisations as well as the people of Malta who are always ready to help.
The President added that no patient should think that they are alone and augured that such conference will rekindle a sense of unity and a willingness to work together against cancer.
