Presentation of credentials by the Ambassadors of Andorra and Finland, and the High Commissioner of Malaysia

Two non-resident Ambassadors and a non-resident High Commissioner, presented their credentials to Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

These are:

Gemma Cano Berné, non-resident Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra,

Matti Kalervo Lassila, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Finland,

and

Hendy Anak Assan, non-resident High Commissioner of Malaysia, present their Letters of Credence.

In the meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of The Principality of Andorra, the discussion focused on the similarities between Malta and Andorra as two small nations and the importance that should be attached to the participation by small states in international fora.

The non-resident Ambassador of Republic of Finland, spoke on the ongoing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, through initiatives in various fields. The Ambassador commended Malta’s role in international organisations particularly highlighting the work done during the current Maltese Chairmanship of the OSCE. The Ambassador also thanked the Malta delegation at OSCE for the support and contribution ahead of Finland’s 2026 OSCE Chairmanship.

The non-resident High Commissioner of Malaysia spoke about potential avenues of further bilateral collaboration with Malta. The Ambassador reiterated the importance of the relationship with Malta, especially in the context of both being members of the Commonwealth.

During the meetings, President Spiteri Debono congratulated the Ambassadors and the High Commissioner.
