On Sunday afternoon, the Imnarja parade, with horses and their owners dressed in traditional attire, departed from Saqqajja; they passed in front of Verdala Castle on their way to Buskett.

 

In front of the main entrance of Verdala Castle, they were welcomed by the President of Malta, Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono who toured with the drivers and horses, and distributed cockades.

 

For the occasion, Verdala Castle and its passages were decorated with traditional damask.

 

During the ceremony, the President of Malta was accompanied by the Honourable Anton Refalo, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Supply.
