This year’s edition of Mixja tal-President successfully brought together thousands of people who walked to St George’s Square, Valletta, in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund.
This year, the event reintroduced a route through the south of Malta, as participants gathered at both the San Anton Palace and Paola for a noble cause.
They joined H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, the President of Malta, Prime Minister Robert Abela, the Archbishop of Malta, Mons. Charles J Scicluna, and Opposition Leader Alex Borg in this initiative that has been running since 2008.
Upon their arrival in front of the Parliament of Malta, the participants were joined by a band of the Għaqda Nazzjonali Każini tal-Banda, as well as athletes from Special Olympics Malta, who led them to St George’s Square.
In the speeches of the highest authorities of Malta, at the end of the Mixja tal-President, a common message of recognition for national unity and generosity stood out, reflected in this year’s strong participation of thousands of people who came together and with their donations make it possible for the Malta Community Chest Fund to help all those in need.
