H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, received a courtesy call by the new Executive Secretary of the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ), Naoufel Gaied.
 
During the meeting, the Executive Secretary renewed the commitment of the IIJ leadership to strengthen the criminal justice response to terrorism and transnational crime.
 
The IIJ was established in June 2014 and is headquartered in Malta, with a mission to enhance the competencies of lawmakers, police, prosecutors, judges, corrections officials, and other justice sector stakeholders on how to address terrorism and related transnational criminal activities within a rule of law framework.
