On Tuesday evening, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, addressed the opening of the Malta Biennale 2026.
In her speech, the President of Malta described the Biennale as a space where thought meets creativity, heritage meets the future, and where Malta opens its artistic doors to the world. She also referred to art as a universal language that unites, invites reflection and encourages mental and physical energies to seek a better reality, and therefore plays an important role in the times of rapid change and current global challenges.
This year’s edition of the Malta Biennale, which is being held under the patronage of the President of Malta and UNESCO, brings together work of art by over 130 artists from around 40 different countries, with their work spread across 27 pavilions in 11 historical sites and museums across Malta and Gozo.
