The President of Malta, Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization, Her Excellency Shaikha Al Nuwais, during her visit to Malta for the 72nd Session of the Commission for Europe, within the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

 

During the meeting, the President congratulated the Secretary-General on her appointment in the beginning of this year, and expressed her hope for continued progress in promoting tourism as a driver of economic opportunity, jobs, and above all, people-to-people relations.

 

For her part, the Secretary-General praised Malta’s work in the tourism sector and the strong and close ties that exist between the Secretariat-General she leads and Malta.
