Earlier today, at the Collegiate Church of St. Paul the Shipwreck, in Valletta, the last farewell was paid to Dr. Anthony Spiteri Debono, husband of the President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono, who passed away on 24 July 2025, at the age of 78.
Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, the President of Malta, thanks the Maltese authorities, including Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna who led the celebrants during the ceremony, as well as Prime Minister Robert Abela, members of the Cabinet, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech, members of parliament, authorities and other persons who paid their respects with their presence during the last farewell to Dr. Anthony Spiteri Debono.
The President also thanks all those who in recent days have expressed their sorrow for this loss, and in particular thanks the public who, while showing their solidarity, respected the family’s wish for privacy.
