Three non-resident Ambassadors presented their credentials to Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.
These are:
His Excellency Abdulla Ali Ateeq Obaid
AlSubousi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates
His Excellency Framoï Mara Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea
and
His Excellency Peter Taksøe-Jensen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The Ambassador the United Arab Emirates focused the discussion on energy collaboration, with particular attention to both traditional energy sources and renewable energy. The Ambassador highlighted the UAE’s commitment to renewable energy over the past sixteen years and emphasized the significance of COP28, which the UAE hosted.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea said that Guinea is undertaking significant strides with infrastructure and raw materials projects and expressed the interest to benefit from Malta’s expertise in the education and tourism sectors.
The Ambassador of The Kingdom of Denmark acknowledged Malta’s important contributions within the United Nations Security Council and looked forward to Malta’s upcoming role in the Council of Europe.
In discussing EU cohesion and effectiveness, the Ambassador addressed pressing issues such as the war in Ukraine and the role of the United States in transatlantic relations. He stressed the importance of maintaining a unified EU stance on global security. Discussions also covered economic competitiveness and the impact of US tariffs on European markets.
During the meetings, President Spiteri Debono congratulated the Ambassadors on their appointment.
