President launches this year’s edition of Art4MCCF

President Myriam Spiteri Debono presided over the launch of this year’s ART4MCCF Presidential Palace in Valletta, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

While reflecting on this year’s theme, Landscapes, Seascapes & Imaginary-[e]scapes, the President invited those present to inspire themselves into a deep reflection of the meaning of what our landscape stands for and the deep meanings that it enshrines for our collective well-being.

“Indeed, the environment of our country, both its cultural and natural landscape, is invaluable, and this curated choice of works bears witness to this,” remarked the President.

The President noted that “whoever acquires one of these works of art shall possess not only a work of aesthetic value, but also a thoughtful reflection on our surroundings; the environment, which must be cherished and safeguarded with dedication and commitment.”

The President thanked the committee, under the chairmanship of Mr Lawrence Pavia, for its commitment and professionalism, and the artists who have gifted their work to help the “Malta Community Chest Fund – the national charity that seeks to help and support as needed, members of the public who are facing difficult times and situations.”

This year’s exhibition invites viewers on a visual journey through the physical, emotional, and imagined landscapes that shape our perceptions of the world. Featuring a dynamic mix of media, the works on display explore the interplay between nature, memory, and imagination.

From sweeping vistas of land and sea to surreal dreamscapes conjured from the depths of the artists’ minds, the exhibition redefines traditional notions of landscape art.

Curated by Melanie Erixon and organised by ART4MCCF, this collective exhibition brings together a diverse lineup of 43 Maltese and international artists, including artists from France, China, and India.

The exhibition will be open to the public, for free, at the Grandmaster’s Palace, Valletta, until the 16th of March, with entrance from Merchants’ Street.

Between the 28th of February and the 3rd of March, the exhibition will be open between 10am and 1pm. From the 4th of March onwards, the exhibition will also be open in the afternoon, between 4pm and 7pm.

The public may also access the online catalogue by visiting art4mccf.mt.
