This year’s Festa Ċitru will take place on Sunday 18th January, and will once again offer families the opportunity to purchase citrus fruit picked from the historic gardens of San Anton Palace.
Details of this year’s event, in aid of the The Malta Community Chest Fund, were provided during an event addressed by Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, in the presence of children from Tumas Dingli Primary School in Attard, part of St. Nicholas College, and from St. Elmo’s Primary School, in Valletta, part of St. George’s Preca College.
This year’s event kicks off at 9am and runs until the afternoon, with the public able to enjoy entertainment while visiting a number of stalls and purchasing citrus, including lemons, oranges and mandarins, among others. There will also be cakes, jams, sweets and other products made by the chefs of the San Anton Palace kitchen. This in addition to other exhibitors, who will be selling traditional and artisanal products.
At 9.30am, Archbishop Charles J Scicluna will celebrate mass in the historic 19th Century Russian Chapel, at the San Anton Palace. The public may attend mass as part of Festa Ċitru.
This year, Festa Ċitru will offer a unique opportunity for families to also visit the halls of the San Anton Palace; the official residence of the President of Malta. Throughout the day, until early afternoon, the public will be able to attend guided tours around the Palace, while receiving historical information about it and the work that is done there.
