H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, was present and addressed the ceremony during which Malta was entrusted with the Presidency of the Council of Notaries of the European Union.
In her address, the President stressed the importance of this Council which unites 22 countries and 50,000 notaries of the European Union. This Council plays an important role in ensuring that uniform rules that closely affect EU citizens, when it comes to personal, family and also commercial relationships, are put in place.
The President congratulated Notary Dr Roland Wadge, who is assuming the leadership of this Presidency of the European Notarial Council, and wished him and the Council every success in fulfilling the priorities of the Maltese Presidency. She also thanked him for his work, for many years, in leading the Notarial Council of Malta.
The event was also addressed by the Minister for Justice Jonathan Attard.
