Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, attended the celebration of India’s National Day.
In her speech, she acknowledged the bilateral ties and friendship between Malta and India, with collaboration covering a range of sectors, including taxation, science, technology, culture, tourism, and education.
She also referred to the trade relations between India and the European Union and noted with satisfaction the signing of an agreement between the European Union and India, which was signed earlier this week, regarding a Strategic Partnership in certain areas.
The President also highlighted the values that unite Malta and India even at an international level, where both countries actively contribute to the upholding of international peace and security, and serve as a voice for a more just and equitable world, and for democracy and the rule of law, particularly in the United Nations and the Commonwealth, where Malta and India are both members of these forums.
