Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, attended the United States National Day celebration.

 

The celebration, organised by the Embassy of the United States of America in Malta, also commemorated the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on 4 July 1776.

 

In her speech, the President of Malta spoke of 62 years of bilateral relations between Malta and the United States, built on democratic principles, shared values ​​and mutual respect.

 

Her Excellency also highlighted the bilateral collaboration spanning various areas including investment, tourism, culture and cooperation in multilateral fora including the United Nations Security Council and the OSCE.

 

Among other authorities, the ceremony was also attended by the Honourable Robert Abela, Prime Minister of Malta, the Honourable Carmelo Abela, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Chris Fearne, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, and the Honourable Alex Borg, Leader of the Opposition.
