H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, attended the graduation ceremony at the San Blas Therapeutic Centre, run by Caritas Malta, where six individuals celebrated the completion of the rehabilitation programme they had followed over the past months and years.

 

In her address, the President paid tribute to the courage, perseverance and determination of the graduates, stressing that this achievement represents an important step towards a new beginning. She also highlighted the crucial role of Caritas, which through its support and guidance helps individuals regain their place in society with dignity, resilience and hope.

 

During the ceremony, residents from the San Blas Men’s Community, the Iris Women’s Therapeutic Community, and the Persons in Prisons Therapeutic Community delivered an artistic performance linked to the ceremony’s theme, “Wasalt?”. The performance conveyed the hope and courage of those facing the challenges of addiction in their lives, while underscoring that overcoming these challenges is essential to embarking on a new chapter.

 

At the end of the ceremony, the President of Malta, together with Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi and Caritas Malta Director Anthony Gatt, presented certificates to the graduates.

 

Also in attendance at the ceremony was the Prime Minister of Malta, Robert Abela.
