On Tuesday evening, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, the President of Malta, attended Malta’s National Day celebration, organised by the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg.
 
In her speech, the President spoke about the shared values ​​of Malta and the Council of Europe. Her Excellency highlighted Malta’s journey over the years, as a country founded on the values of democracy, peace and human dignity.
 
Also attending the celebration, with the theme of the Maltese festa, were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Hon. Ian Borg, the General Secretary of the Council of Europe, H.E. Alain Berset, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Mr Theodoros Rousopoulos, and the delegation of the Maltese Parliament to the Council of Europe.
