H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, the President of Malta, attended a ceremony organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Active Ageing, during which the couple Jeanpierre and Iliana Azzopardi were recognised with the Premju Anzjanità Attiva for their voluntary commitment to the elderly in the community in Tal-Ibraġġ.

In her speech, the President recognised the role of the elderly in society, referring to them as pillars of our communities.

At the same time, the President encouraged authorities, voluntary organisations and the elderly themselves to continue striving to ensure that the elderly do not fall behind in today’s digital age, while having more opportunities to live an active life.
