The 22nd edition of the BOV Piggy Bank Campaign has been launched in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
In a message delivered during a press conference held at the San Anton Palace, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, expressed her gratitude to all educators and students across Malta and Gozo who, through this campaign, contribute each year to supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund and those who are most in need.
While thanking everyone who collaborates to make this initiative a success, the President noted that through events such as this one, “we begin to see and tangibly feel the sense of unity that makes the Malta Community Chest Fund a means of bringing together the entire Maltese and Gozitan people.”
The President also extended special thanks to Bank of Valletta for coordinating this initiative with the Malta Community Chest Fund and for supporting it with a dedicated volunteer team. She further thanked the Minister for Education, Sport, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, and the Opposition Spokesperson for Education, Justin Schembri.
Minister Clifton Grima remarked that this campaign helps children grow with a sense of solidarity and empathy, reinforcing the value of an education that teaches from the heart — not just from books.
Opposition Spokesperson Justin Schembri added that moments like these highlight how Maltese society is deeply rooted in strong values, and he encouraged all educators to continue promoting and supporting this initiative.
“The Piggy Bank Campaign is much more than a fundraising initiative,” said Charles Azzopardi, Head of CSR at BOV. “It is about nurturing the next generation to be active participants in shaping a kinder and more inclusive Malta. Through this campaign, children learn that their actions — no matter how small — can bring about real change.”
Starting from Tuesday, 14 October 2025, the President of Malta will visit over twenty state, church, and independent schools across Malta and Gozo, both primary and secondary. During these visits, the President will meet with students and deliver her message in support of this campaign.
