On Wednesday morning, a resident Ambassador and two non-resident Ambassadors presented their Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.
The Ambassadors are:
- Her Excellency Somers White Farkas, Ambassador of the United States of America;
- Her Excellency María José Argaña, Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay;
- His Excellency Andy Detaille, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the meeting between the American Ambassador and Her Excellency the President, both sides underscored the strong and enduring ties between Malta and the United States, founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a common commitment to international peace and prosperity.
At the bilateral level, discussions focused on avenues to further strengthen relations between the two countries by encouraging exchanges and exploring new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors, including connectivity and trade.
In her meeting with the President of Malta, the Ambassador of Paraguay highlighted the similarities between Malta and Paraguay as small states that are highly active within the multilateral sphere. She expressed her appreciation for Malta’s role and efforts within the international level.
Potential areas for developing further opportunities were discussed, particularly through youth initiatives and educational cooperation, including language studies and cultural exchange programmes.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium noted Malta’s strong commitment to multilateral engagement, especially in the promotion of peace and security. He expressed his intention to continue fostering increased trade and business opportunities between Malta and Belgium, as well as enhanced cooperation within the European Union and in bilateral fora.
President Spiteri Debono conveyed her best wishes to the Ambassadors on their appointments.
